Stevens Point handed Madison Memorial their first lost of the season last night, dropping the Spartans 6-1 in a route. Madison Memorial’s lone goal came from senior, Eric Zwaska. Here is an article that discusses Madison Memorial and Madison West’s recent decline. Once powerhouses in Wisco high school hockey, Madison Memorial and Madison West have their work cut out for them in 2010-2011.
“Each game is going to come down to our team defense and Lashua (goaltender, Ryan Lashua) stepping up big and then my line needs to put in a lot of goals,” says Zwaska, a captain this season and four year lettermen for the Spartans.
The Stoughton Vikings, in search of their third straight state tournament appearance, knocked off Baraboo/Portage 13-4. Senior Captain, Trevor Hoth, notched four goals and three assists in the throttling. “It felt great to get back out there,” said Hoth, about his squad’s debut. “We’ve been working hard and the tempo in practice has been good.”
The Tomahawk Hatchets went to work on the Stevens Point Pacelli Cardinals last night, chopping them down 12-0 to kick off the season. Pacelli senior forward, Kamen Klasinski, who was a huge part of Pacelli’s offense in his first three seasons, is out again with another football related injury. That is a huge loss for the Cardinals, who showed signs last season as a team on the rise in Sectional Three. “Yeah I have terrible luck. Straight up, bull,” said Klasinski about his injury.
