Reedsburg/Wisconsin Dells or RWD, knocked off Stevens Point Pacelli last night 6-0 and will face Prairie Ridge (IL) tonight, in the championship game at the Chula Vista Holiday Tournament in Wisconsin Dells.
On Monday night, during the tournament’s opening round match up versus Sauk Prairie, RWD’s senior forward, Ryan Theiler, notched three goals and added an assist in the 8-2 route.
His first goal of the night, WDR’s first of the game, came on a two on one rush that ended with Theiler ripping it past Sauk Prairie goaltender, Stephen Schultz’s glove.
“You can’t say enough about how well Rhino played,” said junior co-captain, Luke Bjorklund, in reference to Theiler’s Monday night. “Ryan finished, which is what we needed.”
Theiler, a tall lanky forward with good speed and puck protection, used those attributes to turn odd man rushes into breakaways for his next two goals.
Last night, Stevens Point Pacelli, who escaped Beaver Dam in their opening round game by a score of 6-5, proved to be outmatched versus a red hot RWD.
The 6-0 shutout over Pacelli, improved RWD’s record to 9-2-1 going into tonight’s Chula Vista Holiday Tournament’s Championship Game versus Prairie Ridge.
